Paris!

Last weekend was our Fasching long weekend, thanks to the Rosenmontag holiday. So of course, I went to Paris with three friends! We had a great time, even though the weather was decidedly February-ish. It rained on us on Saturday, but after that it got better and even a bit warmer. Climbing up the steps to Sacre Coeur on Monday I even took off my jacket! Here are some photos of our trip:

Twins! Ceilidh and I wore our matching Costco jackets for the weekend.

View of the Eiffel Tower from the ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde

Finally some blue sky! View near Galeries Lafayette.

Inside Galeries Lafayette - the beautiful ceiling!

Having tea at Laduree. We had macarons, and very expensive tea. It was kind of like having high tea French style!

Jardin du Luxembourg, with the Louvre behind us

A picture of the ferris wheel we rode the first day, where we had great views of the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysees. The sky turned out quite spectacular in this picture. Unfortunately that was because it was raining on us.

My favourite part of the Louvre - The Napoleon III apartments

Colourful meringues!

After lunch outside the Louvre we went to Notre Dame, and then to the Latin Quarter to find a cafe. We found this place with these massive meringues!! I managed to eat a whole one, but I think that was a year's worth of sugar right there.

View from the Eiffel Tower!

Champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower

Quite possibly the best part of the trip - skating ON the Eiffel Tower!!!! And it was free :)

We then walked over to Trocadero to watch it all light up

Last morning in Paris. We started by walking over to Sacre Coeur. Finally some blue sky!

While Teresa and Caitlyn went shopping Ceilidh and I went exploring on foot. We found this amazing church near Les Halles, St. Eustache.

We then walked down to the Seine and sat on the side enjoying the sun. We had time for a last crepe and a quick visit to Place des Vosges before heading back to Gare de l'est and the train back home.
