Softball and long weekends

One amazing thing about living in Germany is the holidays we get in May and June. This year (because labour day, May 1, was on a Friday) we get two four day long weekends and two three day long weekends. In the past I have traveled, but this year I have so much I want to do in Frankfurt that I am staying put. The May 1st long weekend I needed to recover, after spending three days at camp with all of the grade 2 classes. Really though it has been softball keeping me busy. On top of playing this year, I am now one of our scorekeepers :)

We have had two softball games so far this year. Two losses vs. Speyer, and then a win and a loss against Main Taunus. The games last weekend in Main Taunus were pretty excited for me. The first game was my first game pitching. While it didn't go as well as I'd hoped, I will still happy that I got the chance. Then the second game I hit a double and a triple! I was given our teams MVP of the game trophy :)

I actually have some pictures of me playing softball now to share. At our previous game, against Speyer, there was someone taking pictures. They posted them on the Speyer website and I was able to save some of me!

Playing 3rd, my new favourite position

Ok, I look funny when I play!

Scoring a point! One of only a few we scored that day.

Last weekend I was scoring for the Schüler, school kids aged 8-10. They were so cute! There were a few girls playing, including one who was completely adorable. She was one of the littlest, but was so focused on what she had to do.

My view of the kids (the little girl is batting). Notice that the umpire had to kneel down!

One last thing that I have been up to - biking. So far mostly just biking to get places, but I will start practicing soon for my Dad and my bike tour this summer. After getting my new bike, I finally sold my old bike to a colleague. I was a bit sad to see it go.

No contest on which is better though!

This weekend is a four day weekend - already I've had two days off and still have Saturday and Sunday! No softball this weekend, just enjoying the nice weather, hanging out with friends ... and looking for a new apartment.
