Places to visit

One amazing thing about living in Europe is the possibility to travel. I have been lucky enough to already have done quite a bit, and am off to Hamburg this coming weekend. Since I have gotten here I have had friends go all over Europe as well. However, I almost more enjoy dreaming about the places I could go. I guess this is because I feel like at any time these dreams could become reality. Without really planning, I have made a list of places I really want to visit. Here are some of the places:

- Riga - don't really know why, but for some reason I have wanted to visit Latvia for a while.
- St. Petersburg - again, something unknown to me is making me want to visit
- Guernsey - I am currently reading (well started yesterday and if I am not careful will finish tonight...) The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It is a great book and I would love to visit this channel island.
- Egypt - want to go on a Nile cruise like Poirot (minus the murders!)
- Scotland and Wales - ever since Christie went I want to as well...
- London - want to go spend some time in the British Museum
- Greece - keep seeing beautiful pictures of the Greek Islands
- Gibraltar - want to see where my Grandpa was stationed during WWII
- Switzerland - since I can't remember being there when I was 2 (this may happen soon. I have a friend who will be in Zurich in March!)
- and about everywhere else: Sweden, Finland, Istanbul, Africa, Spain, Prague, Munich, France (again and again!), etc, etc, etc....

On another note, right now I just want to keep going to Christmas markets. Yesterday I walked to Oberursel and their Christmas market. They have a very pretty old town and I had a nice walk around. There is something about Christmas markets I can't put into words. It is the feeling of them. The smell of all the different foods and drinks, lots of people, lots of things to look at. There were a bunch of the stalls and people dressed up as if they were part of a medieval fair. That was pretty cool, especially with the old feel/look to the town. Unfortunately no pictures, sorry! If I am lucky more Christmas markets this week, and then off to Hamburg and Lubeck for even more :)
