Last weekend, on a bit of a whim, Will and I went to Zürich. We took the train and stayed with a friend of his who use to work at our school. The reason we went was to go skiing. So on Saturday all of us (his friend, her husband, 2 year old daughter and au pair) drove into the mountains. Now, I had only skied 3 times in my life, so was a bit nervous about this. In the end I loved it, even though I spent some of the time terrified.

The weather at the beginning was really not great. We actually got stopped by the police on the way up to make sure we had 4-wheel drive or chains on. Good thing too as just after that we saw a crane pulling a car up from down the side of the mountain. Later the clouds cleared and the sun came out. Just in time for a picnic lunch! That made the day for sure. I think what really got me was how beautiful it was, and how good it felt to see some proper mountains.

On Sunday we went into Zürich for a little while before catching the train home. We didn't see too much of the city, but enjoyed some sunshine while walking along lake. We also hunted down some milk-free (for Cara) chocolate to take back to share. Here is one of the only photos I took in the city:
