I can't believe how quickly this term is going. Only 2 more weeks until I go home for Christmas!!! School has been busy, I have been busy, and unfortunately I have been rather slow in updating the blog.
Last weekend on Friday I went with a group of friends from school to see the Frankfurt Löwen ice hockey team playing. We had a great time, as the fans are extremely enthusiastic. However the team they were playing, the Hammer Eisbären, were pretty horrible. But maybe that is what happens when you name your team the polar bears. The score ended up 14-0. I am hoping to go back and see them playing one of the better teams in the league and next year hopefully see the Löwen in the higher league.
On Sunday a few of us took the train out to Wiesbaden to meet up with a teacher who lives out there. We had such a nice afternoon/evening. We walked through the Christmas markets, went skating and then relaxed at Regina's house. The ice skating was a bit interesting. They have a special outdoor rink for the Christmas market. It was frustrating though, because the skates were horrible, the ice was horrible and there were annoying teenagers being stupid. We all agreed we were glad we are primary teachers!

And then last Sunday I went to my first football (soccer) match. I went to see the FSV Frankfurt playing. They are in 2nd Bundesliga, so one below the top league. It wasn't the most spectacular game. They were not playing horribly, but nothing too exciting happened (except 2 opposing goals). Then in the last 10 minutes things got exciting. FSV scored, then the other team hit a goal post, then FSV hit a goal post. And to end it all an FSV player tried to score with a bicycle kick, ie. he fell backwards and tried to kick it behind him. In German it is called a Fallrückzieher: fall-back-kick.

This past week has been a bit crazy at school. One of our teachers quit, so this past Monday we all had new schedules and there was some shuffling of teachers. Then on Wednesday I had a formal teaching observation and on Thursday I ran a book fair. That was a bit stressful. I had some books I was selling, but we also had an external rep coming in with books. First she was 2 hours late (after we already had started having classes visit), and then there were issues with the books delivered. She ended up not receiving the books for our city school, so had to save half the books from our school for that. Needless to say I was happy when it was finished! Luckily even with the complications it was successful :)
Now just two more weeks, lots of Christmas activities and events at school, and I get to get on a plane for 10 hours to come home!! Yippy!
