Oktoberfest

Last night the teachers at my school went out to celebrate the end of term at the Frankfurt Oktoberfest. I was a bit worried about it being too crowded, but ended up having a great time. I enjoyed being dressed up in my Dirndl and dancing and chatting with my friends.

The mix of songs they played was a bit strange. It was a lot of fun, but it ranged from current popular songs to older popular songs to the set Oktoberfest songs (some of which are actually kids songs). My favourite was the Fliegerlied - the aviator song. The chorus is about flying like an aviator, being as strong as a tiger, as tall as a giraffe, etc. Everyone acts out the chorus which is fun. There were some other songs with simple words and actions that I also liked because I could pick up the German.

After the late night we had a lot of tired people at school today. The kids were already on October holiday but we had a professional development day. At least we were done early so I could go out for Starbucks with some friends. Then we ran errands - bought a turkey to celebrate Thanksgiving on Monday :)
