I was lucky because my dad stuck around in Frankfurt for a week after we got back and I had gone back to school. He spent a night in Hamburg during the week, but other than that it was nice to have someone around. Especially someone who did my grocery shopping and cooked for me! Good timing too, as I got sick in the middle of the week. Luckily I was on the mend by the weekend and ready to try and cram in all the things I wanted to do with my dad. Friday we met up with Haydn (who was staying in Friedrichsdorf for that week as well.) I met him and my dad at Hauptwache and we walked into Saschenhausen for dinner at Wagner's. During dinner it began to pour and hail. It was so loud that we had trouble talking over the noise, as we were sitting in their outside area under awnings. We then went up to Eschenheimer Tor and sat outside, thanks to more awnings, heaters and blankets. We enjoyed some hot chocolate while listening and watching the hail and rain.

On Saturday, after riding the 10 km from Steinbach into Frankfurt so I could do an hour of pitching practice, we took off down the Main. We were heading for Mainz, but it turned out to be 36 km away, not 20 km as we had been told. Needless to say I was almost dead by the time we were half way, so we stopped at Eddersheim, having been saved by a bakery in Pennymarkt in Okriftel a little way before.

| Finally back to the SBahn, and on the way to dinner in Friedrichsdorf with Haydn (by which time I was so sore I couldn't sit on my bike seat!) |

On Sunday, not being able to get on a bike again, we took to hiking. We took the SBahn and bus up to Saalburg, where the Roman fort is that I took my parents to see two Christmases ago. Instead we took off along the paths through the forest to make our way back to Bad Homburg. It was a nice walk, warm but not too much. We somehow managed to follow the paths, which were labelled with about 100 different symbols and rather tricky to decipher. However, a couple hours later we were back in Bad Homburg enjoying sitting outside with an ice cream.

That evening we met Haydn in Steinbach for one last dinner out. Monday both of them were back on planes home. And I was back into the normal routines, and thrown into the hecticness of parent meetings all week. I finally have gotten back into routines, it took awhile after enjoying almost four weeks with my parents.
