This past weekend I went down to Holzkirchen (about 45 minutes south of Munich) to visit Kathrin and her family. She taught at my school last year, but after she went on maternity leave at the beginning of the year they moved. I went down on the train Friday evening and stayed until Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, while being the end of May, the weather seemed to have forgotten that fact. It was about 5 degrees and raining a lot of the time. I still managed to go into the Alps to various lakes on Saturday and Sunday mornings without being rained on too heavily. Saturday afternoon I took the SBahn into Munich for a couple hours - without any rain! What I did discover there were tons of Bayern München fans out in the streets already cheering on their team. That evening was the Champions league final in London. It was a German affair, with Munich playing Dortmund. Here are a few pictures from the weekend:

| Saturday morning walk. Managed to play for a bit before the rain, then drove down to the Tegensee for lunch. |

My afternoon in Munich: I guess I was trying to see everything Bavarian in one weekend. It was a very neat atmosphere in the centre of the city. Everyone was cheering, singing and yelling. Groups of people would suddenly start jumping up and down yelling "Super Bayern, Super Bayern ..." Apparently it was also a very exciting evening downtown, since Bayern won 2-1 over Dortmund.
