Last stop, Nürnberg

Our last stop was a weekend in Nürnberg. We were there to meet up with my Auntie Pat, Uncle Ian and cousin Robert, who is currently working nearby in Bayreuth). We met up the first night at the Albrecht Dürer Stube for a delicious dinner. We had traditional Nürnberger food - Haxe and Nürnberger sausages.

The next day we spent most of the day exploring the WWII history of the city. We took the UBahn out to the rally grounds, and then the tram back to the courthouse where the Nürnberg trials were held after the war. Both places had impressive museums. We could have spent a lot more time with our audio guides.

On the podium

What you can not really see from this picture is the people below playing roller hockey. The other side of the street, which was once all part of the stadium is now soccer fields.

Lunch the next day, before getting the train back to Frankfurt. Of all places we ended up in a Romanian-German restaurant. Dad enjoyed some more polenta.

Looking out over the river and our hotel. You can see the sign for the Lucas Hotel where we stayed, and our window sticking out of the roof and looking out over the water. It was a lovely hotel, and a lovely city. I would really like to go back and see more of it.
